Lettuce

What is it?

Lettuce is an important source of mineral salts, mainly calcium and vitamins, especially vitamin A.

It is the preferred vegetable for salads due to its ease of preparation and pleasant and refreshing flavor.

Originating in Europe and Asia, lettuce belongs to the Asteracea family, such as artichoke, dandelions greens, chicory and escarole. It is known since 500 years before Christ.

                                                     Queen of the salads!

How to conserve

Lettuce is one of the vegetables that spoil faster. Out of the refrigerator should be kept with the bottom inside a bowl with water or inside an open plastic bag, in a very cool place, for up to 1 day.

When stored in a refrigerator, it must be kept in a bag or in a covered plastic container, using the leaves according to the necessity of consumption. In this condition, the lettuce can be maintained for 3 to 4 days.

The hydroponic lettuce must be conserved with the roots, so that it lasts longer.

How to consume

The leaves should be washed one by one in running water, and then soaked in chlorinated solution (3 drops of solution to 1 L of water) for 30 minutes. The sheets should then be rinsed with filtered water.

Although we do not use pesticides in our products and contrary to what many people think, vinegar does not remove pesticide residues, but it eliminates microorganisms that may be on the leaves and cause diseases.
